IWD 1: Adam Montefiore
by Richard ~ June 18th, 2008. Filed under: Podcasts.
The first in a series of podcasts with leading Israeli winemakers and food & wine experts, we interview Adam Montefiore of Carmel Winery.
Mr. Montefiore is seen by many as the informal ambassador of Israeli wine to the rest of the world. He is a descendant of Sir Moses Montefiore who, along with Baron Edmond de Rothschild, reignited Jewish winemaking and agriculture in what is now Israel during the late 19th Century.

Hey! The same thing happens to me too! I’m not nice enough to offer cases of fine bottles to my neighbours, but I do attend friends meetings where each of us brings a bottle of wine: I ususally bring a fine Israeli boutique bottle (lately I enjoy Flam and Somek wineries and Clos de Gat too) my friends lately bring Australian, South American and Israeli wines from larger more commercial wineries. I won’t tell you what my friends think about the wines I bring, but I have to say that I recently find my self being invited to more and more occasions. Then they politly offer me to bring a bottle of wine with me…
