People Who Get Things Done

Monday, September 29th, 2008

A lot of people talk about doing things. But then somehow just never get around to it.
A lot of people Dream…but then never wake up from the Dream to go on and LIVE IT.
My friends Corey Abrams ( @coreydtt ) and Rachel Reed ( @rayree ), both of Inertia Beverage, are people with Big Dreams [...]

It’s a Boy!!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

At 10:15pm last night, our son and fourth child was born.
My wife is a hero.
The boy is 20.5 inches long and weighed in at 8 pounds 15 ounces.
We will share his name shortly!
Childbirth is another everyday miracle that’s all about the world being given (yet again) another chance to get something right.

So, What Are YOU Passionate About?

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

If there is nothing you can find in this life to be excited about, then stay in bed.
If there is nothing you can find in this life to be excited about, then have someone hold a mirror under your nose and see if it fogs up at all. Cause you might be dead.
The fact that [...]

Illinois Wine Retailer Just Doesn’t Get It

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Here is an email exchange (minus the personal details) I have just had with a retailer in Illinois.
Too bad she SO misses the point…but I will update you with her response… IF I get one.
This is sort of a long post (sorry) but I want you to see the self-inflicted Mental Hurdles retailers have placed [...]

SURVEY: Is Israeli Wine “Old” or “New” World Wine? Or Neither?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I thought out loud Sunday evening through a Twitter comment this very question.
I’m not sure I have the right answer.
What do you think?
First of all…what do Old World and New World signify when it comes to wine, anyway?
The diferences are slowly fading so as to make the distinction all but useless and artificial (I think!) [...]

I Got (Re)Married Tonight

Monday, September 15th, 2008

This is a true story (a personal one so forgive me ahead of time).
This morning my entire family and I woke up (in the eyes of some) as not technically Jewish.
At 11am all 5 of us (my wife and our 3 kids and me) went through a conversion ceremony (this includes dunking in a small [...]

How has the 2008 Israeli Grape Harvest Been?

Monday, September 15th, 2008

When I was in Israel several weeks ago, I consistently heard the following from winemakers there and also from Daniel Rogov, Israel’s prominent food & wine critic.
1) the harvest came earlier than usual – almost 3 weeks earlier
2) the grapes look GREAT
The Grape and Wine Council there had this to report, as well:
Grape expectations in [...]

Beautiful Women Drink Israeli Wine!

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I think my friend Chavi in CT has started something REALLY cool (whether she meant to or not!)
The reality is that there are beautiful women all over the world drinking Israeli wine. Chavi is one of them!
If you have been following me on Twitter this evening, you know that I am giving away Israeli Wine [...]

How to Listen to the Market to Get Stuff Done

Monday, September 8th, 2008

One of the things that’s amazed me in this little start-up biz of mine is the way a business develops organically – i.e., things you end up doing, directions you end up taking that arise along the journey, and not because you planned them.
Recently, in an email to me Guy Kawasaki reminded me that the [...]

The Future(s) of Israeli Wine!

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Maybe this has happened somewhere else before with Israeli wine but I don’t think so.
Israeli Wine Direct is beginning now to sell Futures (or Pre-Arrivals) of the best premium wines coming out of Israel. “Futures” is just a fancy wine-world way of saying we can let you buy limited exclusive premium wines now for delivery [...]
